German defense company Quantum Systems plans to deliver tens of thousands of interceptor drones to Ukraine, with the first deliveries scheduled for the current year, according to news agency Ukrinform, citing company vice president Matthias Lehn.
German newspaper Handelsblatt had previously reported that German authorities intend to finance, through German defense company Quantum Systems, the mass production of interceptor drones for the needs of the Ukrainian armed forces.
«German defense company Quantum Systems plans to deliver tens of thousands of SPYS type interceptor drones to Ukraine», stated a report published on the agency's website.
According to statements by the company's vice president, cited by the agency, these specific interceptor systems are capable of shooting down unmanned aerial vehicles with jet engines.
Regarding the delivery schedule, Matthias Lehn maintained that «thousands of units are ready to be delivered already within the current year».
Russia considers that arms deliveries to Ukraine hinder the resolution of the conflict, directly involve NATO countries in it, and constitute «playing with fire».
